MY Teahouse was founded in 2007 by Raymond Mao, a tea lover with a deep artistic background. Reconnecting with his long-neglected passion for calligraphy, Raymond has spent years refining his craft—practicing daily or weekly since the opening of the teahouse. His distinctive style has earned admiration from both Chinese and local artist friends, many of whom regard him as an artist with a unique, self-developed aesthetic.

In 2022, the teahouse underwent a thoughtful renovation. Hand-painted silk artworks were introduced into the space, blending naturally with the serene atmosphere and classical tea culture. These refined silk pieces soon caught the attention of many visiting interior designers.

In 2023, Minna, a tea enthusiast with over a decade of experience in interior design in China, stepped into MY Teahouse. She was immediately drawn to the elegant décor and deeply resonated with Raymond’s artistic vision and calligraphy. Inspired by their shared passion for tea, art, and silk, the two collaborated to establish SILKAROMA—a brand that brings together the subtle aroma of tea and the timeless charm of silk.

Since then, they have begun offering custom-made silk artworks—ranging from hanging scrolls and tabletop screens to full-size decorative panels—each piece thoughtfully designed to bring cultural richness and elegance into contemporary spaces.

      What we do?

Minna brings over a decade of hands-on experience in China’s interior styling and high-end customization industry. She is deeply familiar with every stage of the process from design direction and material coordination to project management—and has a strong understanding of the precision required in bespoke production. Her long-term working relationships with skilled Chinese painters and embroiderers allow for efficient and accurate communication, ensuring both quality and timely delivery of each piece.

Raymond, with his profound artistic background and years of calligraphy practice, brings a high level of aesthetic discernment and artistic judgment to every project. With an artist’s eye, he oversees every detail and holds uncompromising standards, ensuring that each creation is not only technically exquisite but also rich in cultural depth and spirit.

It is the combination of these strengths that positions SILKAROMA as a trusted bridge between discerning clients and traditional Chinese artisans. We are dedicated to deeply understanding our clients’ visions and translating them with precision to the painters and embroiderers. Every piece is carefully supervised from concept to completion—not only to faithfully reflect the image in the client’s mind, but to emerge as a one-of-a-kind artwork with soul and character.

    Service Process

  1. Choose a Design
Please provide details about the intended space, including its function, dimensions, theme, and preferred color palette. Based on this information, we will recommend suitable designs and assist with layout adjustments to ensure harmony with your space.
If you already have a design concept, we can refine and adapt it to meet your personalized requirements.
  2. Select Base Material
We offer a range of premium base materials, including:

        Plain weave silk

  1. Provide the Dimensions
Please provide the dimensions of your intended space. Based on the selected product type, we will create a layout and determine the appropriate artwork proportions.
If you have any special requirements, please let us know in advance so we can make the necessary adjustments.
  2. Sample Arrangement
Once the design, base material, and dimensions are confirmed, we will provide a reference quote.
Upon quote approval, a proportional layout draft will be prepared for your review.
After the layout is approved, a physical sample will be produced — typically within 4 to 6 weeks.
Once the sample is confirmed, we will proceed to full customization.
  3. Customization
The standard production time is approximately 8–12 weeks, depending on the design complexity and embroidery techniques involved.

Although Silkaroma’s main focus is bespoke silk wallcoverings, we are equally delighted to create smaller personalised pieces—such as framed artworks, folding screens, and decorative cushions.
A selection of unique one-off pieces can also be viewed in our Art Gallery.
